Department Introduction:

The Retroperitoneal and Soft Tissue Tumor Surgery at Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated with Fudan University, is one of the key disciplines of our hospital. Supported by the Department of General Surgery at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, it routinely carries out clinical diagnosis and treatment for various common and frequently occurring diseases in general surgery, especially difficult and critical cases. Among them, the annual surgical volume for retroperitoneal tumors is about 700 cases, ranking first in the country; the annual surgical volume for various types of abdominal wall hernias (including complex hernias) is over 1000 cases. Specific surgeries include: (1) En bloc resection of large retroperitoneal tumors with organ resection (including pancreatoduodenectomy, artificial vessel replacement, etc.) (2) Cytoreductive surgery for intra-abdominal metastatic tumors (3) Total pelvic exenteration (4) Re-resection of recurrent retroperitoneal tumors (5) Laparoscopic minimally invasive resection of retroperitoneal tumors (6) Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (7) Minimally invasive surgery for complex hernias such as incisional hernias, parastomal hernias, and hiatal hernias. The founder of the discipline is Chief Physician Lu Weiqi, and the current leaders of the discipline are Professor Zhang Yong, Deputy Chief Physician Yang Zian and Deputy Chief Physician Tong Hanxing.
