Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology

The department of allergy and clinical immunology is a newly established clinical department of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University in 2023. This department primarily focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of allergic respiratory diseases including asthma, allergic cough, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) and eosinophilic lung diseases. Additionally, it provides comprehensive care for allergic rhinitis, allergic dermatitis, food allergy, drug allergy, severe anaphylaxis and oncotherapy related adverse drug reactions.

Currently, the department offers routine outpatient services, specialist clinics, expert consultations, and multidisciplinary team clinics for allergy management. In addition to standard diagnostic and treatment approaches, the department conducts in vitro and in vivo allergen testing, biological targeted therapy, and allergen-specific immunotherapy (desensitization treatment). The department's staff have extensive experience in the standardized diagnosis and management of asthma and have participated in numerous international and domestic multicenter clinical trials for asthma medications.

Dr. Jin Meiling, as the chief physician and the head of the department, holds various important positions within medical associations, including vice president of the Allergy Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, vice chairman of the Respiratory Branch of the China Alliance for Rare Disease, president of the Allergy Branch of the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association, vice president of the Integrative Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association, and deputy leader of the asthma group in the Respiratory Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association. She has hosted multiple national and provincial research projects and contributed to the preparation of clinical guidelines or expert consensus for various diseases, including asthma, ABPA, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), lymphangioleiomyomatosis.

Under the leadership of Dr. Jin Meiling, the department will be committed to a "disease-centered diagnosis and treatment model," carry out clinical diagnosis and treatment for various allergic diseases, and provide one-step precise and comprehensive medical care for allergic patients.
